TYP03-Association at CeBIT 2005

With over 122’000 installations, the successful Open Source project is a new player in the European CMS Big League

Vienna (7th March 2005, 9am):   For the first time, the TYP03 Association steps before the interested public. At the largest European IT trade-fair, CeBIT, information about the organization at the heart of the Open Source project is presented. Interested parties and developers are given the chance to become members, and thereby supporters, on the spot.

The main objective set by the association, which was founded in November 2004, is the continued development of the software and the ongoing conformity of TYP03 to international software standards. This is a clear sign for businesses that place CMS in Open Source. The new organizational backbone of the successful Open Source project offers an institutional interlocutor for financial and legal matters. In addition, the TYP03 Association will continue to concern itself with the quality control of worldwide development, insofar as developers and agencies are given the possibility of having their services certified.

USA to Austria - up to the minute TYP03 news from all over the world

It is not only the best-known Austrian thoroughbreds, the Lipizzaner, that since recently are presenting themselves in the Net via TYP03. In fact the latest conversion to Open Source was made by the German global corporation Henkel, which attaches all the brandings of its adhesives (Pattex, Pritt, Ponal, et al.) to the successful CMS from Denmark.

For its part, the credit union direct insurance agency [Sparkassen direkt Versicherung AG] has, with professionally conducted performance tests, demonstrated the impressive performance of TYP03: with over 400.000 visits per month and over 100 000 newsletter recipients, TYP03 lifted the speed and performance of the tested elements by around 25%.

Open Source is also booming in the public domain. Only this week, six Dutch cities decided on TYP03 after extensive evaluation. Now Heemskerk, Bloemendaal, IJmuiden, Velsen, Uitgeest and Beverwijk offer their 200 000 or so citizens the service and attractiveness of a professional solution with Open Source price level.

At 'Virtual City Hall Muensterland 2005' this level of performance already exists, with the highest standards of accessibility and user-friendliness for the approximately 283 000 inhabitants of the region's cities and principalities.  The University of Muenster described the citizens' service as 'outstanding'. The so-called civserv-extension of TYP03 allows administrative services to be viewed from 'citizen-POV': according to walks of life, user groups, organizational entities, and alphabetical order. In 'Administration online' well over 250 services of the district administration are to be found, from 'demolition of buildings’, through 'media distribution', to 'admission of imported vehicles'.

At the same time, TYP03 is going through a veritable boom at American universities. To name only a few, the well-known educational institutions of Stanford University, Johns Hopkins University and the University of Rhode Island have entirely converted to the Open Source CMS TYPO3 (further information at http://edu.typo3.com ).
